Natalie Alleyne is a painter and educator who grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where she attended Art and Design High School and then majored in art and design at the School of Visual Arts. It was when she moved to the island of St. Maartin in the Carribean that she found her artistic voice, and became fascinated with the textures, colors, and overall flow of island life. Upon moving back to New York she became a teacher on the Board of Education and exhibited her work at a show comprised of work by educators, and her career has taken off ever since. She is also a member of the Artists Collective For Social Change, a group that works to provide arts education and opportunities for self expression. We think she would be a great addition to the Love and Water community because she is interested in the intersections between education and art!
This piece, entitled “Spirit Guides,” could be matched with buildOn, a group that connects urban youth to their communities and builds schools in developing nations.
