After Tom Sinton was killed in the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, his wife, Cathy Carill, wanted to honor his memory in a way that would also assist the wounded soldiers returning from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2006, she founded The Tower of Hope, an organization that trains service dogs and pairs them with disabled veterans. Since then, The Tower of Hope has expanded its efforts by also training service dogs to work with non-veterans afflicted by other disabilities and illnesses, including multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, spinal injuries, autism, and even severe diabetes. They’ve been able to train dozens of dogs and match them up with families and individuals who need them.
If this has inspired you to create a t-shirt design for The Tower of Hope, submit it to our Artist’s Choice this month! Or check out their website to see what kind of specific help they give and ask them to create a profile on the Love and Water website!
